Frequently Asked Questions
What does emptying cycle mean?
What does emptying cycle mean?
An "emptying cycle" typically refers to the process by which waste or byproducts collected in a system are removed or emptied. This term is often used in relation to composting toilets, waste management systems, and certain types of energy storage systems. For composting toilets, the emptying cycle is the frequency at which the composted waste needs to be removed. This cycle can vary based on the usage and capacity of the toilet but usually ranges from several months to a year.
How often do I have to change the waste bags for solids? Are they recyclable or for one time use only?
How often do I have to change the waste bags for solids? Are they recyclable or for one time use only?
For most of Eco Off Grid’s composting toilet systems, the waste bags for solids typically need to be changed every 3-7 days. This frequency can vary based on the number of users and the frequency of use. The majority of our composting toilet systems use biodegradable or compostable waste bags. These bags are made from plant-based materials that break down naturally along with the waste, supporting eco-friendly disposal. These biodegradable bags are intended for single use to ensure hygiene and ease of disposal. After use, they can be composted along with the waste, contributing to the composting process without leaving harmful residues.
What if there’s no sunlight or wind?
What if there’s no sunlight or wind?
The Kazuba toilets provide advantageous conditions for evaporation and it is almost impossible for zero evaporation to occur. In any event, if there is waste in the system, then microbiological activity will continue and the waste will continue to break down. If a period of prolonged darkness and lack of wind occurred and waste was continually added to the system, then this would present a problem, but it’s somewhat unlikely.
